29 Faces Challenge

Only one more day to wait! (I haven't started yet - this is one of my older pieces!)

Hope you are all joining in!  Have a great weekend.  :)

Brown Paper Play!

I felt like playing today!  I found a brown envelope and my cheap craft paints and just went for it!  I stencilled the white area at the bottom of the page and used a text stamp and one of my leaf stamps.  I also used my favourite "Posca" pens. Not sure why I wrote "organic!"  The word just came to me while painting! Painting "naive" houses is one of my favourite things - though they are usually more colourful than this one!

It's another dark, dreary, rainy day today!  Hope it's dry and sunny where you are! :)

Wilde and Free

Here is the finished painting!  Not as cute as Micki's girls, but I can work on that! :)  Along the way, I lost some colour in the painting, but overall I'm pleased with how she turned out.

Not long now until the 29 Faces challenge!  Are you taking part?!  Have a great day! :)

Wilde and Free

Here is my latest painting from Micki's class, still in progress. I hope to finish it tomorrow.  The weather today has been so dull and dreary and the light hasn't been so good.

I will post the finished painting tomorrow. Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend. :)

Peace!

Here is my latest painting - created in my moleskine journal.  I decided to keep the details fairly simple to evoke the feeling of peace. The colour turquoise always manages to relax me too!

I am enjoying using my handmade tribal stamps - I don't know why I haven't thought of making my own stamps before!  I will definitely have another go at making other designs in the future.  See you again soon with more art. :)

Fun with Faces!

It's another face from Micki's class:

I do love playing around with digital effects! This is the "plastic wrap" effect - it makes you want to touch it!

Back to more painting!  Have a lovely evening! :)

Frivolity!

At "Mixed Media Workshops" we had to do a "Word of the Year" art challenge - and I chose Frivolity!  I certainly need to relax and have more fun with my art, instead of worrying about the end result. I can be too much of a perfectionist and generally just think too much instead of just "doing!"  So I went with the flow, and this is the outcome!  I am quite pleased with the result.  I don't usually choose greens, so maybe this has some secret message for me - new growth, perhaps?  Here it is:

More art coming soon! :)

Wilde and Free Workshop

The is one of my paintings from the "Wilde and Free" workshop, painted in my moleskine journal.  I found it hard-going painting the layers of acrylic on the face! (Micki makes it look so easy!)  It probably didn't help that I used thick acrylic paint, rather than the liquid kind!  I did enjoy it though - all I need to do is put in the practice!  Here it is:

I will be back with more paintings soon! :)

Finished Journal Page!

Here is the finished journal page I made for a swap!

I painted the poppies first in watercolour and gouache. I then added collage elements from card stock, paper, magazines and fabric. Finally I added doodles and writing with my Posca pens, a metallic gold brush pen and my Staedtler ink pen!  I hope my swap partner likes it!  I certainly enjoyed making it! :-)

Hope you are having a lovely day!

See you soon! :-)

Wilde and Free Workshop!

Hi friends

A belated Happy New Year to you!

The weather has been awful with heavy rain and floods everywhere - in fact there is  lightening and thunder at this very moment.  My poor garden has taken a battering with fallen fences everywhere!  Oh dear!

But what has cheered me up is the wonderful art workshop that I'm taking at the moment called "Wilde and Free", with the very lovely Micki Wilde, otherwise known as "The Secret Hermit".  It is a mixed media class with a tribal theme. (Go look at her blog for all the info. on her classes - she's on my fave blog list, see below for the link!)  Part of the workshop is to make your own tribal stamps, and here are some of mine:

Once I started, I couldn't stop! It was so much fun!  I highly recommend her workshop, so go have a look!

I am also in the middle of a journal page swap and a paper doll swap with "Mixed Media Workshops"  - come and join in - they are a friendly bunch!

Wishing you all a wonderful week!
